Desde 2008 es científico titular en el Instituto de Lenguas y Culturas del CSIC, Madrid. Previamente realizó estudios de Egiptología en Pisa y Oxford y trabajó como investigador contratado en el Instituto de Filología del CSIC en Madrid. Ha participado como epigrafista de campo en la misión hispano-egipcia en Dra Abu el-Naga (“Proyecto Djehuty”) desde 2002 hasta 2015.

Es autor de diferentes publicaciones en revistas especializadas nacionales e internacionales así como de los libros Etnicidad y Territorialidad en el Reino Antiguo egipcio (Barcelona, 2006) y Abriendo los caminos de Punt (Barcelona, 2011).

Entre sus campos de interés más específicos figuran los contactos de Egipto con sus vecinos durante la Edad de Bronce, la percepción egipcia del extranjero, la explotación egipcia de las áreas marginales desérticas, el papel socioeconómico de la caza en la civilización egipcia y las gestión de los productos foráneos por parte de la administración egipcia.
