Por Mark Nesbitt (Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, Londres)

Lugar: Sala Juan Cabré 2D

The Museum of Economic Botany at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew was founded in 1847 and is the largest of its kind. Its original purpose was to facilitate international trade in useful plant products, to the benefit of the British Empire.

Mark Nesbitt, current curator of the collection, will examine how an old colonial collection can be repurposed for the 21st century. How can these specimens tell new stories, and are they still relevant to the source communities from whom they came?

Organiza: Grupo de Investigación "Las letras y las ciencias en la antigua Mesopotamia" (ILC, CCHS-CSIC)
